Review: The Graveyard Book Volume 1 by Neil Gaiman & P. Craig Russell

Title: The Graveyard Book Volume 1
Author: Neil Gaiman
Series: The Graveyard Book Graphic Novel (#1)
Publisher: Bloomsbury
Rating: 4.5/5 Stars

An irresistibly-brilliant graphic novel adaptation of The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, adapted by award-winning illustrator P. Craig Russell. This is the first of two volumes.

Nobody Owens, known as Bod, is a normal boy. He would be completely normal if he didn't live in a graveyard, being raised by ghosts, with a guardian who belongs to neither the world of the living nor the dead. There are dangers and adventures for Bod in the graveyard. But it's in the land of the living that the real danger lurks, for it is there that the man Jack lives, and he has already killed Bod's family.

Each chapter is illustrated by a different artist, with contributions from P. Craig Russell, Kevin Nowlan, Tony Harris and Scott Hamptom, Galen Showman, Jill Thompson and Stephen B. Scott.

Source: I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book whatsoever; it's my true opinion only.

I've never read the actual full novel The Graveyward Book, so this was a fresh new story to me. However, this was a great way for me to see it. After reading this, I am really interested in the book.

A very magical and animated story set in a graveyard.

This can definitely be one of those books to read around Halloween, or if you like dark and eerie books.

So many characters that sparkle within the pages. The art work is absolutely fantastic.

It didn't take me long to read, and I was completely captivated.

I really liked the main character Bod. The book showed him learning about things in his young life, and we go on an adventure with Bod.

Each chapter had something new: a new adventure; a new every day story.

The ending of the book has me wanting more.

I love the general cover design. It is beautiful and definitely grabs your attention.

It completely deserves the rating of four and a half stars. I can't wait for the next volume.

If you like animated stories that will remain in your heart forever, then you need this book in your life.

This is one of those graphic novels to curl up by the fire with.

Perfect for any graphic novel fan.
