Top 10 Most Intimidating Books

So this isn't going to be a "Top 10" list as such. I'm just going to tell you some books that I own that intimidate me...

SIZE:
  • The Game of Thrones series
  • Les Miserables by Victor Hugo
  • The Mortal Instruments series
  • The Infernal Devices series
  • The Gone series
  • Oblivion by Anthony Horowitz
  • Angel Fire by L. A. Weatherly

Size indeed does matter. When it comes to books that is. Big books generally scare me. I got these books because I heard LOADS of great things about them. Then I look at them, and I get put off because of the size. The last time I read a big book, it took me a while to finish =/

BIG SERIES:
  • The Morganville Vampires series
  • The Vampire Diaries series
  • Stefan's Diaries series
  • House of Night series
  • Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series
  • True Blood series
  • Making Out series

These series I've listed here I do own, but they are so long, I just don't know when to start them because there are so many books (especially Anita Blake. There's over 15 books in that series!!)

ADULT BOOKS:
  • The Casual Vacancy by J. K. Rowling
  • Thanks for the Memories by Cecelia Ahern
  • The Brightest Star in the Sky by Marian Keyes
  • Angelology by Danielle Trussoni
  • Bared to You by Sylvia Day
  • In the Dark by Mark Billingham
  • Fear the Worst y Linwood Barclay
  • Secrets by Freya North

So I purchased adult books so I can gradually expand my genres into reading more than just YA. It hasn't worked though because I'm just too scared to begin one.

WILL I LIKE AS MUCH AS OTHERS?:
  • The Hunger Games series
  • The Percy Jackson series
  • The Mortal Instruments series
  • The Infernal Devices series
  • Partials & Fragments by Dan Wells
  • The Soul Screamer series
  • The Lord of the Rings series
  • Beautiful Creatures series
  • The Inheritance series

So these are some series I know a lot of people love, but I'm scared to start in case I don't like them.

BOOKS IVE HAD FOR A WHILE THAT IVE BEEN PUTTING OFF FOR A RANDOM REASON:
  • Love and Other Four Letter Words
  • When it Happens by Susane Colasanti
  • Sugarcoated by Catherine Forde
  • The Fearful by Keith Gray
  • The Worst of Me by Kate Le Vann
  • Hero by Perry Moore
  • Heaven by Christoph Marzi
  • Sugar Rush by Julie Burchill
  • Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen by Dylan Sheldon
  • I am Rembrandt's Daughter by Lynn Cullen
  • Exodus by Julie Bertagna
  • Surf Wax and Vodka Jelly by Lucy Clarke
  • Leader of the Pack by Kate Cann
  • North Child by Edith Pattou
  • Before I die by Jenny Downham
  • Out of Control by J. brindley
  • The Wrong Boy by Anna-Louise Weatherley
  • Sea Change by Kate Cann
  • Falling by Sharon Dogar
  • The Princess and the Captain by Anne-Laure Bondoux
  • Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin
  • Waves by Sharon Dogar
  • The Traitor Game by B. R. Collins
  • The Blood Stone by Jamila Gavin

Most of these books I put off because I've had them a while, and I buy new books that are hyped at the moment, so these books just get ignored and pushed out of the way. I look at them and I'm like "I really must read these soon" and I never do. I have a problem - I know!!

So that's it. Those are my choices and reasons. Let me know yours below. Happy reading!!

  2. Wow! Such a big list! I totally understand your issues with big series. That happens to me all the time. I had Cassandra Clare on my list too. Great list.
